Do you ever set a goal and feel really motivated at the beginning… and then a few weeks later the motivation disappears?
Maybe you promised yourself you would start exercising, work on a project, learn a new skill, or change a habit.
You start strong, but then life gets busy. You feel overwhelmed. And slowly the goal fades away.
If this sounds familiar, please know one thing: you are not alone.
Many people struggle to achieve their goals.
Not because they are lazy or incapable, but because they try to change too much at once or they don’t have a clear system.
A lot of the ideas in this guide were inspired by the mindset and personal growth strategies shared by Rob Dial, especially in his book Level Up: How to Get Focused, Stop Procrastinating, and Upgrade Your Life.
His message is simple but powerful: small daily actions and the right mindset can completely transform your life over time.
The good news is that reaching your goals doesn’t have to be complicated. When you simplify the process and focus on small steps, progress becomes much easier.
Let’s walk through a simple and practical way to start moving toward your goals.
The first mistake many of us make is setting goals that are vague or based on what we “should” do.
Instead of “I want to get fit” try: “I want to do 30 minutes of exercise 4 times a week to feel more energetic.”
💡 Exercise: Grab a notebook and write one goal that really matters to you, and why it matters. Connecting to your “why” is the fuel for action.
Vision boards are effective because they are a visual reminder of your intentions and shape your thoughts and actions. Vision boards give you a clear direction for where you want to go in several areas of your life.
Once you have set your goals, vision boards are a great tool to help you stay focused and motivated on achieving them. By visualizing your goals and intentions through images and words, you create a constant reminder of what you are working towards. This can help you stay on track and make decisions that align with your goals. Additionally, the act of creating a vision board can be a creative and enjoyable process that helps you clarify your intentions and gain a sense of direction.

Here are some steps you can follow to create a vision board:
- Gather your materials: You will need a poster board or cork board, magazines, scissors, glue or tape, and any other decorative materials you want to use.
- Find images and words that resonate with you: Look through magazines and cut out images and words that represent your goals and intentions. Choose images that inspire you and make you feel excited about the future.
- Arrange your images and words: Start arranging your images and words on the board. You can organize them by theme or create a collage-style board. Play around with the placement until you are happy with the overall look.
- Display your vision board: Place your vision board in a prominent place where you will see it often. This could be in your office, bedroom, or any other place where you spend a lot of time.
- Other ways: Create a Vision board in Pinterest or similar online websites. You will simply need to create a new board and save (pin) the pictures to your board.
- Take action: Your vision board is a visual reminder of your intentions, but it is up to you to take action towards achieving your goals. Use your vision board as a guide to help you make decisions and take steps towards your goals.
Remember, creating a vision board is just the first step. To maximize its effectiveness, it’s important to regularly review and update your board, take action towards your goals, and remain open to opportunities and possibilities.
